And will lead the Tories into the next election.

Famous last words.
Too wooden, too late, too disingenuous, no passion or conviction in anything she said, repeated sound bites and believes she’s fixed everything now Hunt is appointed, without realising or caring about the damage her mini budget has caused.
The reporter on Newsnight reckoned that a third of the party want her to go immediately, it’s too late for her and they’ll definitely change the rules so that the party members don’t get to choose the next clown.
What an absolute disaster this party has turned the country into.

I forget what the election procedure is, but can she call one when she likes? Probably not the best thing for her party - but she was voted into the job according to the party's own rules, so it's hardly her fault that she's there.
She’ll be lucky if she leads them into November.

Lizzie saw 15 prime ministers during her reign, by the sounds of it Charles is going to get off to a flying start.
She'll have to go, it's just a question of how and when.

The Tories are in such a shambles it might not be a bad strategy for them to call an election now, lose it, and spend the next five years regrouping while a new govt tries to sort out the mess.
you think Labour as it stands can do anything better?
if so how....
Some including some full time social influencers might wet themselves laughing if they see another con leader bite the dust but does the country need more uncertainty....would it be good or bad for the pound and are pension pots.
The best thing for the country surely is some stability for 2 years until kier takes over in 2024.
if Liz Truss survives this, then i see that she could indeed lead them to a GE. We need stability, so deposing another PM shouldn't be something the Tory party is doing.
doubt she will see next week !
But they do, possibly because there is a lack of gumption between them all.
her position is untenable and the timing is just perfect for another gunpowder plot from within..poetic justice !
Stability is certainly what the country needs but I can’t see that many have confidence in Liz Truss and that doesn’t bode well.
if only they had someone with gravitas who would take over, but they all seem much of a much.
Truss staying won't provide stability. We'll just get two more years of Tory plotting and infighting at a time when they should be concentrating on running the country.

Pretty much as it was during the demise of Boris.
if we are lucky Rishi will see past the back stabbers and come back..Boris will be making far too much now and enjoying his young family to respond to the petitions for his recall...
Rishi IS a backstabber! I wouldn’t trust him an inch.
but at least he has an air of authority about him and he does get on with the job..think far too much attention is paid to his marital financial empire etc.. can't see anyone else with the necessary creds to be honest !!
Not for me.
nor me. If they don't get their act together they will let the Labour party in power.
Keir and chums just don't have it for me... bring back Gordon Brown !!
Oh good grief! Noooo!
