//o god people on AB are so dim!// Some of them might be (though I doubt it). Most of them most certainly are not. There are some who may think others are dim but manage to keep quiet about it. Then there’s those who think everybody else is dim and try to demonstrate it by spouting often inappropriate Latin drivel four times a day, which nobody either needs or wants...

Not everyone has a passport or photo driving licence and we are basically opposed to mandatory ID cards.
who could possibly object

o god people on AB are so dim!
they dont object - - they dont vote duuurrrrr!

ID voting stations reported a decrease of 2.3% average
trumpo voter denial remember?
Why do you say ABers don’t vote?

"Not everyone has a passport or photo driving licence and we are basically opposed to mandatory ID cards. " - then kin well get some, not to hard is it! You on the electric yet?
Who are these marginalised groups that Labour say could be put off voting and why would the requirement to provide proper identity to minimise fraud put them off?
//Voters would be able to show ID cards including driver's licences, and UK, Commonwealth or European Economic Area (EEA) passports.

They will also be able to show photographic travel passes, disabled parking badges, or apply for a free special voter ID card.//

I'm not shelling out for documents I don't need so I shall be opting for the ID Voter Card.
the government wanted to keep ID cards after the war. The public made it very clear they were okay in war but there was no place for them in peace.

Of course things may have changed since most of the war generation has passed on, to be replaced by their more sheeplike descendants.
Why sheeplike, jno? We all have to provide identification sometimes. Why should this be any different? It’s surely important to eradicate fraudulent voting if at all possible … isn’t it?
//then kin well get some, not to hard is it! You on the electric yet?/.

I don't drive and I have no intention of going overseas. Why should I "kin get one"? I have a fundamental right as a citizen of this country to vote in our elections without shelling out for documents that wont be used for their natural purpose.

...Mozz I see but is it really so bad to do your bit to stop voter fraud? Unless......
I've never missed voting in an Election, an ID card will do me fine.

"I don't drive and I have no intention of going overseas. " - very sensible, I mean overseas is where Jonny Forrin lives!
I.D. cards look more of an opion with every "latest channel crossing". They would be very useful in the drive to reduce benefit fraud never mind electoral fraud. If any of you have sorted out a covid passport online then you will know that the "agencies" are beginning to link up. The NHS and DVLA are already able to compare notes. Who knew? Recent global developments have made ID cards inevitable. If you don't want one don't have one.
There would be no ‘shelling out’. The voter ID card would be free.
//.Mozz I see but is it really so bad to do your bit to stop voter fraud?//

I'm doing my bit, by going to vote. I have no problem with all citizens having an id card if the government bring that in, but I will not, and do not see why I should have to fork out for a passport that won't get used.
ID cards could be a problem, especially given the more and more totalitarian Governments the West seems to be getting.

Great for voting, but what about when you are refused your shopping because you are fat or alcohol because you siad something horrible or too drugs. Sound outlandish? Given some of the suggestions from Johnsons Government lately perhaps not.

A photo ID card should be given for voting though, and reduce the postal voting.

who could possibly object? Pretty sure you know the answer to that one!

TBH I'm not a fan of ID cards but I think they will become necessary.
//do not see why I should have to fork out for a passport that won't get used.//

How many more times? The voter ID card will be FREE
//I'm doing my bit, by going to vote//

From what I read on here, you voting is part of the problem not part of the solution. (^_*)
ID cards wouldn't bother me. They should be a free option at least. To get a Civilian card, you have to pay, and need other forms of ID.
