Ok, so it’s been a weird year anyway, but as it stands Youngsmow is meant to be coming here Xmas eve, then all 3 of us going to the in-laws for Xmas day lunch & evening. (They really want us to stay overnight but that’s another story - 2 kittens, my terrible sleep pattern etc etc) then Boxing Day here.
So in theory we are home here at least Xmas Eve, definitely Boxing Day lunch and evening at least, and all of New Year. But I’ve been looking at tv ads, talking to friends, looking at FB posts, and everyone I know has gone full out with buying stuff ! One woman I know has even done a whole Xmas dinner pre- run!! And made her special gravy which she is freezing till the big day!
They’ve all bought the chocs, the mince pies blah blah….
Soooo, for those who have bought anything what have you bought, and what do you usually eat on all those days apart from the Xmas dinner?
And who else hasn’t done a thing, like me??

/And who else hasn’t done a thing, like me??/

Me!
everything's been done or so Doris tells me . . .
I ain't done no nuffin..
:-)
I shall send a few cards (about 4) to close relatives, including my 94 year old aunt. Buy one small present for my friend in a care home. And my son and his wife, like us, don't do Christmas but we buy just one present for each of us. And that's it. I don't drink. Hubby will have a few beers and we will have a nice steak dinner.

Apart from that, I'm not really up to going anywhere or doing much any more.

No stress at all!!
Main food shopping tomorrow. Iceland for most. Nut roast bought, vegan sausages and Xmas pud bought. Pre mix stuffing and bread sauce mix bought. Xmas day cooking done between two houses then brought to one. Complicated day. Grandson spends 24 night at his dad, Grandaughter comes here after dinner with dad. Daughter here as horses and dogs to take care of Xmas morn. Then grandson comes here while I cook potatoes and sweet potatoes, stuffing, sprouts etc. daughters partner, with his kids cooks meat, bacon sausages etc while I cook vegan mains and trimmings. Then all up to his house for lunch and back here by 5 to feed horses etc. chaos will probably reign
i ordered turkey, veg pack and trimmings pack back when they wee going on about shortages of stuff at the beginning of November. I cant buy christmas chocs in advance as they mysteriously turn into Weekday chocs instead of xmas chocs
Thanks to barry from here i have a slot in the week of christmas for tesco so will probably get stuff in that shop

A mixed bag then! This will also be the first Xmas where I’m teetotal so should be interesting lol.
I've posted the cards and got all the presents - but no food yet,
I've got a turkey crown, pigs, cake, stollen, some nibbles.
Will get dessert, more mince pies, stuffing etc next week.
I am not expecting a lot of family so keeping it small.
How many pigs? Are you doing hog roasts?

I presume they come wrapped in little blankets ;0)
Not bought a thing but do have a couple of slots booked not really high on my agenda at the moment
I've ordered the Capon and the pork belly is in the freezer. I've got the chipolatas, streaky bacon, chestnuts, etc.

I finally got round to putting the sprouts on yesterday, I hope they'll be done on time.
I did all my cards on funky pigeon last night and got chocs for 3 teachers from little Tigs. Presents nearly done but still got a couple more things to get. I want to go shopping but with the way things are going at work I might not be able to take time off this week. I've done most of it online but want to look at clothing in store.
I've got the turkey but still need to get veg, trimmings and desserts!

Think I’m going to get a selection of buffet style things to eat…….. can’t really go wrong with that can you!? X
I've made my sausagemeat stuffing and do usually have the gravy done before now, but it'll have to wait until next week. Pigs in Blankets, Gammon and Forerib of Beef is in the freezer. I've bought 2 presents and really need to pull my finger out to get the rest.
Bought quite a lot of cheese.
House clearance or Christmas? That seems a no-brainer to me Redhelen. :) I do like to see someone who piroritises - no offence to you, Smow. Christmas will come and go as usual just make of it what you will. It has been a difficult year, health wise, we are not doing Christmas this year apart from a few cards which are now in the post.

Imo, it is more important to be with loved ones and try and avoid unnecessary stress. Maybe next year will be better.

I shall be making a large batch of sausage rolls this afternoon then open freezing them before bagging them up into reasonable "servings" ready for cooking. My recipe includes chopped walnuts, parsley and crumbled stilton - delicious.

On the 25th I will make my pigs in bondage - a whole chipolata covered with a whole, stretched rasher of streaky from head to trotter! So called, because the pigs cannot get out and the bacon does not unwind itself - no need for cocktail sticks as many people say they have to use.
We may be having baked beans on toast choux which is more than I am rustling up at the moment with his injury and mine things are taking longer!
Oh well we will get there
Redhelen, I am sure you will. Just take it as easy as you can. Being happy comes in many guises, enjoy each 25th Dec just being together x
