A VERY unusual time for me to be joining in. But that's because of the holidays. I did finish it but I'd like some explanations please.
Before that, I hope you all had a joyful Christmas. I certainly did though, I have to admit that , apart form Mass on Christmas Eve it was devoted to pleasures of the flesh. SWMBO invited various friends around for Christmas dinner, all of them, for one reason or another, with no partners. So, the first pleasure was that a number of older people did not have Christmas alone. She is also a fabulous cook (and my soup wasn't bad either!) so after the usual fare (though beautifully cooked and presented she had made a quite spectacular Pavlova which went down a treat.
the following day she and I went round to His Nibs place (he and his mother were with us the day before) and we had a smaller but still great get together. So the joy of being so much with him and the sheer pleasure of the occasions made this one of the best Christmases I remember. (I won't be vulgar and talk of presents).
So I didn't start the crosstie until last night and I have to admit I nearly gave up as I found it so difficult and some of the answers I had weree shots in the dark really. But all the spaces are filled in.
If you have time could some explain the following answers please? In each case I can see some of the reasoning but not all.
15 acPlate borne back by short celebrity {answer : electro?)
33 ac Dropping in and plugging Times (stopping by)
52 ac old jailer to go off with principal (turnkey)
22d In tournament singles weaken ? Can be beaten (Meet one's Waterloo)

Thank you so much

Thank you NAC. That's very helpful. One down, three to go.
Glad I could help, Steven. I rushed in with that one because it was the most straightforward! (PS Glad you had such a great festive period).
15 It's just reversed in the clue, read backwards ( ort cele, in short celebrity)
and I believe Electro = plate.
33 Dropping in = stopping by, visiting. Plugging = Stopping + By = Times, X, multiplication.
33 Stopping by just calling when passing and also stopping (plugging) times (multiply 'by')
22 Meet = Tournament. Ones = singles, Water - weaken + Loo = can.
Meet One's Waterloo, be beaten.
22

Tournament - Meet
Singles - Ones
Weaken - Water
Can - Loo
Glad you had such a joyous Christmas.
There, Steven - much to my surprise, I managed them all!

WOW!!! As ever, they are so clear when you great people explain. I am very grateful. just in time to start tomorrow's. I assume normal service will return .
Thanks also for the nice remark about my "festive season". I am so lucky. I know I take the mick out of my mother on this site (and it's all true) but she is a wonder. And as for His Nibs. I am SO lucky that he is there for me.
