It depends what sorts of spots they are..
I have 5 teenage boys and would recommend tea tree oil for acne or infected pores
to reduce the swelling you can use heamariod cream...i really works.
there are at least 4 types of black.whiteheads and each need to be treated correctly.
ppplease give more details.

Thanks MangoPete. Well they are only quite small, they are on my forehead and a few on each cheek. They are not black or whiteheads though. They were colourless at first but since i've been using clearasil facial wash they have gone really red and sore and some have gone quite raw as if the top has come off and they have bled a little

It's strange though because i don't usually suffer from spots at all. My skin isn't greasy, I don't know if it's my diet or what really. Hope someone can help

all spots are hormone related. how old are you?

I'm 21
I know it's a cliche, but drinking loads of water really does help! It sounds like you're sensitive to one or more of the ingredients in your facial wash. If the spots have become sore and itchy, I'd ask a pharmacist for advice, they can give you something for contact dermatitis. I always use a soap- and perfume-free cleanser, like Simple facial wash gel and then use medicated products only where and when they're needed as they tend to strip all the natural oils out of your skin, and it overcompensates by producing even more. It's best to keep it simple!
Do you have any on your chest or behind your ears?
Do you hav flu like symptoms
I have had chicken pox four times. The last time I only had three spots...but it was chicken pox.
I would stop with the clearasil. The other essentail oil to use to heal rather than disinfect is lavender.
Are you hyper alergic ? Do you have allergies or intollerances?
I had some of those bassets fruit alsorts and my face swelled up terribly ( I am not an animal).

All spots are NOT hormone related.
allergicractions tend to come as a rash like scarlet fever rather than individual spots.
If your skin has calmed down after the clearasil I would try some lavender on your wrist to see if you react to it. If not put some on your face . Best to mix it with a carrier oil. Olive will do but try almond unless you are alergic to nuts.
if they have gone down I would try some tea tree oil again mixed in another oil say 10 drops to 50 mls of oil.

You could see your doctor though he /she may prescribe a steroid cream which you really should not start using unless you become really bad, but then oral steroids are used.
Don't worry about them ,I am sure you have a lovely smile and great personality

Hope this helps.

Thanks MangoPete you have been really helpful. I am not allergic to anything as far as i'm aware and the spots are only on my face. They have gone a little better now actually. I have stopped using the Clearasil wash it seemed to be drying out my face completely.
The best thing I found which dries up spots OVER NIGHT is Mario Badescu's Drying Lotion. It costs about 15-20 a bottle but it has worked for me EVERY TIME and I'm not kidding. Look for it on Ebay or on the net elsewhere.
