Why are the government not doing anything about the increasing number of non EU immigrants entering the country?

and yet the repeated mantra is, we welcome diversity and all the positives inputs the mmm migrants bring, including illegal entry criminality diseases religion of war fgm pro slavery ? possible serial killers jihadists...but not to worry, they have rights and you will pay to keep them in or out of prison and any medical treatment obviously, and they can also...

If COB gets in you can but another naught on that.

Part of the problem with deporting foreign nationals with no business here is the long drawn out procedure and the HRA (plus an army of Cherie Bliar types on the old legal aid band wagon)

Immigration Minister Caroline Nokes.

Prime Minister Theresa May.

Perhaps that is the reason, I refer you to the previous thread.
The Tories promises to REDUCE immigration from the hundreds of thousands, to just tens of thousands.

As with most else they promise, they have failed to deliver, spectacularly wrong in this instance.

Theresa May still insists that that is still the target, and every year they miss it by miles.

and yet the repeated mantra is, we welcome diversity and all the positives inputs the mmm migrants bring, including illegal entry
criminality diseases religion of war fgm pro slavery ? possible serial killers jihadists...but not to worry, they have rights and you will pay to keep them in or out of prison and any medical treatment obviously, and they can also bring in their families...makes you feel all warm inside, altruism...
Nice rant but any suggestions fender as to how we can reduce it significantly without impacting on NHS recruitment for example? Anyone know the breakdown by category/reason? Are overseas students who are a source of income for universities included I wonder. I think that the government has no real ideas on how to reduce it- perhaps TM should also be asked to justify her target by explaining how the numbers willl be reduced.

And Labour will increase the numbers, after all they make up most of their voting stock.

Ah! that old chestnut again, they are all Doctors, Nurses and learned students.

I now understand your username, you continuously turn out the fiction.

Let’s leave aside the deceit perpetrated by the “net” migration figures (which imply that we are quite happy to see the “population swap” that the gross figures portray).

“…any suggestions fender as to how we can reduce it significantly without impacting on NHS recruitment for example?”

The usual red herring. NHS staffing does not depend on importing hundreds of thousands of foreigners every year. Successive governments have chosen this as an easy (and cheap) option. Apart from the problems that might occur should this cheap source of labour suddenly dry up, it denudes the donor countries of their skilled labour and denies opportunities for careers in the NHS to people already here. It is a logically flawed strategy, suggesting that we must import labour to run essential services, principally for an ageing population, whilst simply neglecting the fact that the very people imported to cure the problem will simply add to it as they themselves age. It is the logic of the madhouse.

Whilst these ridiculous ideas hold sway no government of any colour will show the will to restrict immigration to sensible and sustainable levels. We will continue to add a million or so people every few years to the population, swapping many high net worth, low burden individuals for those entirely the opposite. Meanwhile the problems those people are said to be here to address will simply perpetuate and worsen.
Well looks like you have put that one nicely to bed NJ.

Couldn't agree more with your post.
Let's bring Cameron back , he said he would get the numbers down,
where are you Cameron?.
>fiction-factory.Ah! that old chestnut again, they are all Doctors, Nurses and learned students. I now understand your username, you continuously turn out the fiction.

Err, I didn't sat that.

>Well looks like you have put that one nicely to bed NJ.

Err, no, unless you are prepared to wait 5-10 years. It takes years to train NHS staff and we need to address the issues of why we aren't attracting sufficient home grown people now. i agree we should seek to do it for all sorts of reasons but it's pie in the sky at the moment if we are talking about this year's figures or next years.

The red herrings come from both sides of this argument.

Of course the NHS is only one small element- I just gave it as an example.

Can anyone give a breakdown of the 244000 figure here and explain how it could be reduced. And i would like the government to answer that not just some ABers, because in practice I don't think anyone has an answer.

Maybe making emigration harder would help the numbers?
Not directly you didnt but the reference to the NHS as your argument appears that is what you are saying.
The best answer seems odd.
Whilst the "repeated mantra" may include "we welcome diversity and all the positives inputs the mmm migrants bring", I can't remember many saying "including illegal entry criminality diseases religion of war fgm pro slavery ? possible serial killers jihadists...but not to worry, they have rights and you will pay to keep them in or out of prison and any medical treatment obviously, and they can also..."

>Not directly you didnt but the reference to the NHS as your argument appears that is what you are saying.
Not good enough, but I think you and AOG know that.
Now who is having a rant then?
isn't this balanced by the people who left the country, many never to return. I know it wasn't 244 thousand going but significant numbers have gone home or emigrated.
this was from last nights news ^^
“…we need to address the issues of why we aren't attracting sufficient home grown people now”

The reasons are fairly straightforward. Nurses need a degree which is ridiculous (or would be if secondary education, which is what many “degree” courses simply see the completion of, was satisfactory. Doctors (understandably) need to take a five year degree which leaves them with around £50k debt.

This problem has not appeared overnight. It has been evident for decades. The solutions to the problem are simple but are not being implemented because it is easier to ship in people with often dubious qualifications and skills rather than regulate and fund the necessary training ourselves.

“Maybe making emigration harder would help the numbers?”

What, like, making it harder for people to leave you mean (thus increasing “net” migration which relies on high levels of emigration to keep it down).

“isn't this balanced by the people who left the country, many never to return.”

No it isn’t, emmie. The figure of 244,000 is the excess of those arriving over those leaving: 578k in, 334k leaving.
The quality of our own people emigrating has depleted the gene pool. The industreus, the intelligent, the insightful, have abandoned a sickening nation. We now have a glut of thicko’s breeding, and moral standards mocked. Those with wealth and sense saw the writing on the wall and dwell often in enclaves or neighbourhoods of similar ilks.
