What a miserable Saturday! the newsagent didn't have the parts of the Saturday edition which contains the jumbo crossword. SWMBO was too busy with work to go anywhere. His nibs was tied up with his mother so couldn't come over. The weather was vile.
But it was the missing Jumbo that was worst. Can Murdoch be trusted with something so important?
Glad the weekend is over and it is simply work to take up my time

Dear Mamyalynne
Thank you! Thank you! Thank you! I was feeling lowers you might have guessed but you, as always, have the encouraging word. What are you doing for Christmas?

steven
Question Author
That should read "low as" not lowers. Why does the machine always feel the need to correct?
Well Steven, I have choices and plenty invites but I might let the family be on the day itself then they can be as giddy and relaxed as they wish. The we can all gather on Boxing Day for a get together.

You?
Wonder if anyone on the site has the Times subscription and could post the crossword for Steven?
The lad 'needs' his crossword.
Can't it be downloaded?
I think you have to be a member Danny; unless others know another way.

Well SWMBO and I will be having Christmas dinner after Mass (i.e. early afternoon). We often have it with just the two of us. But the fun will come later. His Nibs and his mother have invited us round for a sort of family get together. It's really family and friends I have met some of them with him and they are good fun so that should be great. And he and I will have St Stephen's Day together.... can't wait!!
Steven - click this link - http://docdro.id/giprhcT

Then top right, click "Download", open that & print the PDF.

HTH :-)
One of the members could post a copy on line for him to download.I have done it with Telegraph puzzles.
Cap'n if we wish very hard, who knows?

Steven, that sounds ideal, have a great time.

There you go.Solved by L-i k
Thanks LiK, very kind.

(That's what I meant by 'post' it, Danny)
Question Author
Well, actually., SWMBO subscribes and I tried to download it. It came up on the screen but the printed version came out without any black squares so I started to fill them in. But then I realised that I used to do this at primary school (or a variation) and that made me cross again (it was a very grumpy day). And, in any case, the clues wouldn't print out. I'll try to use the link that you have given, Lie-in King, but I suspect that SWMBO will be uptight if I try to do it today. She's not home yet but when she comes....
thank you all very much for your help and sympathy.

Question Author
I tried but the machine says that the site can't be opened "because the server where it is located is not responding". I think I might have to admit defeat. Drat!
steven
Steven - I've no idea why that link isn't working, sorry. If you're of a mind to, please try this one -

https://tinyurl.com/yafchw2f

Open that, click the grey "Cryptic Jumbo 1296.pdf", that should download to your machine, open that & print - hopefully!
That one works Maj.
Ta Mamya - DocDroid (1st link) now seems to be down. Obviously it was working when I posted the link. :-)
Question Author
You are AMAZING!!! It has worked so I now have a printed version, with black squares and clues. Keep your fingers crossed for me that SWMBO doesn't hit the roof. I shall be busy working when she comes home and only when she sees that I am a conscientious boy will I reveal my good fortune.
