2d Left aboard Queen Elizabeth or similar (5) L?N?R Is it LINER or LONER?

Can see L + ON +ER. Surely you don't say IN when ON board ship?
Am I just being too pedantic? Could also say if left aboard you would be a LONER.

Thanks dannyk13. Just me being silly about obvious answer.
As clues go it's not great is it?
Must admit I had put loner until it wasn't accepted.
Traditionally, Royal Navy men serve in ships rather than on them. After all' we don't live on houses, do we? My Dad told me that before I joined the RN in 1953!
