Being a bit thick this morning - can anyone explain why 16d "some folk carelessly drop this character in the middle of nowhere" is aspirate?

aspirate is to drop a character - in this case the H in the word nowHere
Aspirate is a name for letter H which is in (now)h(ere) and is often dropped in pronounciation.

Thank you. Have to say, I'd not heard that definition of the word before. Should have checked the dictionary more carefully!!!
