I don't have anything, in principle, against lowering the voting age to 16,
but the children that took part in this survey were as young as 10 !

Is that why they once voted Labour, because their parents voted Labour, their Grandparents voted Labour etc?

AOG...on the evidence of this very small sample of children, in one part of the UK only, its obvious that the parents and adults that surround these kids are ignorant of the true facts, which is probably a much more likely reason that they may have voted UKIP !

If they can get simple arithmetic wrong, then what chance have they for being able to understand more complicated issues ?

What has under estimating got anything to do with Arithmetic? You underestimated the outcome of the recent election.

Perhaps these children don't live in Cornwall etc, but live in an area where their estimate of Muslim numbers are about right.

Look at the views expressed by the children in this survey. Muslims represent only 5% of our population, and yet 35% of those Polled thought "Muslims were taking over Britain" !

Fender...its their ability to process the info that they are faced with which is the problem, and at the age of 10 years old, I wouldn't expect much different. But adults hold these views as well, which is more difficult to explain. Try asking a wide range of people that you meet over the next few days as to what percentage of the British population is Muslim.....you are likely to get a shock.
