Just one street light?
Putting lights on costs money at any time but maybe saves lives or helps pedestrians and road users. Is it just that 20 minute spell you're querying?
Street lighting is there for a purpose and shouldn't be switched off at all.
Its just common sense really !
Maybe the bulb went. Were the other lights on?

forgot the "S" spell inspectors.

i hope so, they will need it to cover all the claims for accidents that they are likely to receive when it is pitch black

50% of our street lights have been off for the last couple of years.
Did all the street lights go off?
The OP says 'on'
I'm confused. I thought the light came on at 4.40 and went off at 5.00. Oh, well.
I'm a tad confused as well...
It would help if TWR answered the question.
I thought the light came on at 04.40 and went off at 17.00.

Street lighting is there for a purpose and shouldn't be switched off at all during the hours of darkness. Especially not before the council claims they are going to deprive me of the lighting I've paid for by my domestic rates, and not 5 to 10 minutes before I get back home either.

Maybe we are talking at cross-purposes here.
TWR... can you clear up all this confusion by explaining exactly what you are saying in your thread...what does >>>>>> mean ?

The street lights in our town get's switched on at 4..30, Is this a waste of money, ( I'm not talking about not when they are switched off)
Head and brick wall come to mind here. :-)
I'm assuming that TWR just noticed the street light was on during that approximate period!!
It seems a little bit early now but in a few weeks it'll be going dark then.
That's because it's getting dark.
