court...woo+ L last letter in trial. and wool is a type of yarn
1a Stow away - 's(on)' + 'tow away'
5d Yawl - 'l(eft)' + 'way' (up; north, in a down clue)

Thank you all. I felt like I'd just put them in 'cos they fitted. Looking at the explanations I think 5d YAWL was the most cryptic.
