With a lot of Windows 8 machines, the key (I assume that you mean the Licence Key) is embedded on a chip inside the laptop.
What are you trying to do?

Got my suggesteion transported to another thread, must be a wormhole thing. It may be in the column left of the tab, Caps lock, shift and Ctrl keys.

My dad bought a new laptop a few weeks ago and to access some apps it is asking to reactivate windows 8 and asking for the product key. But we have no idea what it is. Nightmare.
