Sunday Times

Has anyone noticed that the top prize in the Sunday Times crossword has changed ?

Its now a rolled gold fountain pen, not a solid silver one. I have won the silver pen twice before, so it would be nice to have a gold pen instead !

Over the years I have won several fountain pens from the EV in the Sunday Telegraph and I wish they would change the prize to cash. Fountain pens are almost obselete in this day and age and one can only use one pen at a time. The Saturday Times' Listener crossword has the prize of a Chambers Dictionary which is useless because one needs the dictionary in the first place to do the crossword! The cash would at least help cover the ever increasing cost of entering these puzzles. I also think that editors should be looking at ways where we could submit solutions via email or web site to save us this needess expense.
Well, I have two Gold Cross pens (Times) and two Inoxcrom fountain pens (Telegraph), and if I win again I still won't complain. Really!
I faithfully submitted ST by post for over 20 years and then gave up as I never won. Consider yourselves lucky!
