receivable - no idea why
receivable?
Receivable? Not sure why though.
connotations with bankruptcy and hearing stories?
accounts receivable may be welcome but I don't see the connection with impoverished writer
^ yes, an imoverished writer would welcome money owed to him(accounts receivable) and hope that his accounts (stories) were well received

A 'receivable account' for an impoverished writer might be a royalty payment
Richard Bailey published a short story called "Accounts Receivable: I Am Brian," but it is pretty obscure.
