Clue: Amateur with two suits in abundance (1,4). I have: ? ???O. Latin phrase maybe? Penultimate letter of 6 across is same as first letter of 8 down.

Sorry but how does a gogo fit
Amateur = a
Two suits = go x 2
A gogo is Italian for in abundance
U - university
Pb - chemical symbol for lead
eat - (f)eat with the f (fellow) taken away
University = U

Achievement= (f)eat
Lead=pb
Ref 'a gogo' - why does go=suit?
