What is the attraction with the place? It's probably the last place on earth I would choose to go but BJ really wants to go, so I'm curious to know what's so great about it?
I don't fancy it but himself would like to go there (thinks we should get married again in tacky fancy dress in an Elvis chapel with the kids all dressed up when we are there).
It is so tacky but also so luxurious.
So slick but so easy to be there.
Not for a stay of longer than a week....ten days at most.
Loads of free shows.
The place is just nuts.
My ideal holiday is walking and bird watching somewhere remote yet I loved LV, but just for a few days.
We went because we lived in Canada for three years and wanted to experience as much as possible. It was fun. The shows are great and if you like people watching this is the place.
Its Fun with a capital F. The hotels are mini resorts in themselves, there are complete replicas of whole towns and famous landmarks, theme parks, casinos, towers to go up, and shows to see.
I loved it and wouldn't have missed visiting for the world; but it was extremely hot and isn't particularly cheap anymore - three days is just right before moving on to the visit the Grand Canyon or Monument Valley. Absolute musts if your that close by.
Go once, for the exparience! But two full days is enough. Take in a show or two, and that's it. In the day, it's worthwhile going into the vast hotels, some of which are spectacular. One thing's almost certain; you won't get a tan. That's because, most times, it is simply too hot. In summer you need a wet cloth to open the car door, it's so hot to the touch.
But the Grand Canyon is a short trip from Vegas and far more impressive than you can imagine. Book one.
a a 73 yr old great granny I love it, the glam, the gitz, the shows, the shopping, its like Disney for grown ups I have been going every year for the last ten years. At least give it a try before you knock it.
