So, no Friday finishes on this one. Me neither: perhaps I really am slipping.
I'm really struggling to get enthused about this: it looks like a lot of cold solving and then a letters jigsaw. I don't think it gives anything away to note that 3, for example, has four turns that I can see, in any direction and not counting bumping into the edge, which creates a very large number of alternatives - too many to enter anything with certainty even with some checkers around. The only letters you can actually enter are the first ones. I struggle with knight moves, but these are king moves (minus diagonals) in three dimensions. It must all work out, I suppose, but at the moment I'm underwhelmed and unlikely to push through. Perhaps others could let us know whether it yields before you've solved all the clues independently.

Alan777 - I don't think there's any restriction about how letters are shared between clues and there are one or two distinctive letter sequences amongst the entries. The only restriction is that you can't visit the same cell twice within a single entry.
Still searching for my missing answer. Are both 26s in the BRB? I know one is but scratching my balding head about the other

Last or late as usual .. but I agree with Andrew on this - I really enjoyed this puzzle. Some tough clever clues, some other logic to play with, all fair and a clever construction and fun.

Look on the bright side Zadabak; Only 3 dimensions to work with this week rather than thinking in 4 as per a few weeks back !

nearly there - just a couple of clues to go and all fitting together very nicely. the only thing is the unchecked letters - they don't seem to have much significance yet :-/

Phew - quite a battle that one! Don't think I'll be testing my powers of embellishment, but quite a nice result - if a bit Roman!

Too much like hard work so near Christmas. Having done the easy bit by sweating my way through solving all but 3 clues cold I decided that the next step needed time and inclination that were absent. So no entry this week.

That was quite a struggle - and the final result is just a touch iffy, which makes me think I might be a tiny bit out somewhere, but there's more than enough else to be doing now so in it goes. Not an easy challenge for an -NF- Myers-Briggs type since every step demands precision and intuition had little room to play.

Merry Christmas to one and all. This has taken a long time. I was able to start filling the grid when I had solved all except five clues. The last clue fell out when filling in the fourth grid. I can't say I enjoyed the challenge - too much cold solving - but it was a very clever construction. I will now have the next couple of days off before looking at 4169.

I'm in the just finished it in time Club. Really enjoyed this, and managed to start filling in (other than initial letters) when I had solved about 60% of the clues. Perhaps knowing the setter helped in my thinking that this was a clever construction with a really clever finish. Very Best Wishes to All - thanks for your interest/help/friendliness during 2011. Must have a look at 4169 now.
