Ok I know what it means, but where does this saying come from!

What is a lobon / lob on?

Can't find the origin of this saying anywhere!

A lob has meant something heavy and loosely pendent...ie dangling...since the 1500s. It was applied, for example, to the wattles of a turkey back then. It's fairly clear, therefore, how it came to be associated with the condition you describe!
