I can't give any help on the origin, but at the risk of telling you something you already know or suspect, i think it may refer to the popular sexual practice whereby the male is brought to apex via slippery congress between the female's fond front furniture. Bristol Cities 'n'all. Again, apologies if this is something about which you were already clear.
