phrases or sentences can be palindromes too, as O'dranreb will know. eg the first sentence ever uttered ('Madam, I'm Adam'); Napoleon's 'Able was I ere I saw Elba' and so on. Long list on www.palindromelist.com, but an awful lot of them are gibberish ('Ed, I help pink nipple hide').
