Advice on kitten

I have recently adopted a new kitten. We all ready have a 3 year old cat but it seems to not like the new addition to the familly. Puss puss keeps hissing when the little one goes anywhere near her. What is the reason for this and how can I stop it?

Cats are territorial animals, and they don;t take kindly to new whippersnappers muscling in.

This is perfectly normal, so don't worry too much about it. Once your q;ueen gets used to the new kitten, she will accept it, apart from the occasional spit or cuff to remind the younget cat who is in charge.

This is the way cats operate, it is perfectly OK, your little one will learn her place, and they will be fine.

To make sure, give your queen lots of fuss, expecially when the kitten is not around, and feed them separtately until they get on better.

Ditto to andy & garner! I have 5 cats - 2 old ladies, then 1 whom I took in as a stray, her kitten (now 3yrs old) and little Mischa, who came into our lives in July. There's definately a pecking order, but they all now get on fine. Each knows her limitations, and who she can play with and who to avoid. Just persevere, they'll get on eventually!! K xx
