What are your favourite examples thereof? Mine are French champagne, from the very beginning, at this moment in time, added bonus and free gift. I'm not sure if the following are tautological strictly speaking but, either way, are curious: PIN Number, ATM Machine, FHM Magazine, LCD Display and LAN Network.

My pet hate is "reverse back" followed by (and this is true) "re-look at this again" instead of re-examine or reconsider. Honestly, a former manager used to say this regularly!

Being being being
"The etymology of language" Since "etymology" is the study of the origin of language, isn't "of language" redundant?
"Tick here if you do NOT wish your details to be passed to a third party" Sorry, that should be filed under gross lies!
reiterate. Look up "iterate" in the dictionary. It means to repeat. Same dictionary "reiterate" means repeat. So the "re" is tautological, isnt it?
NCP car parks
"New and Improved" Or is that an oxymoron?
Again, I may be delving into "oxymoron" territory, but isn't "same difference" annoying in the extreme?
I just heard one on the morning news... The reporter stated "...it was unfair victimisation"! I wonder what he might consider "fair victimisation"!
I bet most of you have got a fully comprenhensive Motor policy

"reverse back" grrrrrrr

and does anyone know if "Lake Windermere" is tautological? like saying Lake Winderlake?

NINO number

'Pendle Hill' - meaning: 'Hill, Hill'

"Almost exactly."  Either it is or it isn't.

Similarly: "Exactly correct".

The reason why - now used by all newsreaders
What really annoys me is "he filmed/sang this before he died" Really?

I listened to a Sergeant in the British Army giving orders to the signals teams in 4 Landrovers.

He said: Landrover 1 go to Location A, Landrover 2 go to Location B, Landrovers 3 and 4 go to Location C where they will be co-located together.

My pet hates
"this will never be the same again"
"in this day and age"

the worst is:
"a small minority"

my worst oxymoron
"fresh frozen vegetables"

"a small minority" isnt an example of tautology. not all minorities are small. a minority can be as much as 49%. like, if 49% of people voted conservative, you thats a sizeable minority. As opposed to "a small minority", who might vote Green Party, for example.

Sorry, just thought I'd point that out.
