I read recently that David Filo and Jerry Yang the founders of Yahoo originally called it "Jerry and David's Guide to the World Wide Web". This being just a tad clumsy they changed the name to Yahoo which they say stands for Yet Another Hierarchical Officious Oracle. On that basis is the word Google an acronym an if so what does it stand for?

The name "Google" originated from a misspelling of the word "googol" which is a number which is written out as the number 1 followed by 100 (one-hubdred) 0's (zeros).
But where does the word "hubdred" come from?
Liverpool. It's the fear of parking one's car in a public area ;)
The word hubdred is used when you have a cold i.e. 'I have used one hubdred tissues today'.
