Thanks, jakeyboy.
"People called romanus they go the house?" "Conjugate the verb my boy"......."Now write out a hundered times before dawn and if you don't I'll cut yer balls off"
Try " Quid pro bono nostro umquam feciunt Romani?" What have the Romans done at any time/ever for our benefit/ our good?" .That seems to convey what is intended.
Nice one, S! For once, what I scribbled out yesterday was almost the same as Fred's version. I decided to leave it until I'd seen what he had to say. (I'm convinced he deliberately presents something different to what I've said every time. Joke, Fred...joke!)

I made it: "Quid Romani ecquando pro nobis feciunt?" Not Cicero, perhaps, but there or thereabouts.

sft - ha ha nice one, centurion, like it like it :-) Fred and Quiz - thanks for your answers. Actually it just occurs to me that the actual Monty Python phrase was 'What did the Romans ever do for us?'....does this make a difference? Or does it just translate as the same?
Snap....me too quizzy...Yes it might make a huge difference.....Latin wan't built like english were you can change one word and retain the meaning of the others around them but it's all structured around tenses and phrases.....which makes it so bleedin' awkward to get right....I suppose the quid pro bono part could remain but I don't know about the rest....I am just not good enough at latin these days to remember enough.
