Cassidy laughs off suggestions she should have taken the hat and crowd-dived - a roadie did give her the band's playlist,

what does it mean?

Hi, assuming that 'crowd diving' is the same as 'crowd surfing'....it means; jumping on top of the audience [generally in front of the stage], being caught by said crowd and being passed over-head!

There is a subtle difference actually.

Crowd surfing often originates in the audience - almost always at the front. Someone climbs on a friend's shoulders, and lies back, and is then lifted off and passed above heads in a prone position for a few minutes.

Crowd diving is almost excluively the preserve of metal fans who climb onto the stage, dodge the security, and take a running kamikaze leap into the audience, who hopefully break their fall. There is usually a sufficient crush of bodies to make a 'soft' landing possible, but it is a bit dicey - which is a large part of its appeal.
