Brought about by a Harry/Meaghan thread.........

Since we drifted into becoming an item we've never walked about hand in hand, arm in arm or arms around each other apart from these days when I forget to take a stick.

We have been an item for over 50 years.

Our son and wife always walk in hand.

Never really thought about it before,,..?

Are we strange.

Of course you're strange, MissT....we all know that! ;-)

To answer....Dave and I do at times but the oddest hand holding I ever had was in Whitby with Dave and MrsO. I'm really small. Dave and MrsO really tall with long legs. To hurry me up they took a hand each and started to swing me between them til we got to the pub.
we used to, not always but often. But most couples I see on the street don't

Damn cheek gness. I feel offended ;0)

Lovely picture of you being swung in my head now. Whitby is very special to me.

Hubby and I were about the same height - getting on for 6ft until I shrunk. Apparently I'm 5"6' now. Lofty Lottie is no mor
Lottie, I think the Sussex's are probably in the minority and i think she goes overboard with her need to always be holding his hand or touching his back or his knee. I'm not too sure he always appreciates her doing if either from the look on his face.
I hope offended enjoys it. ;-)

That's quite a height loss, MissT. I was under five foot til I was twenty one then had an unexpected growth spurt taking me to five foot. If I shrink Dave will be able to lean his elbow on my head as we wait at the bar in Murphy's. :-(

Hi jno. It would hamper me having one arm out of use. I used to be a fast walker and he was a stroller and now that's all changed.

we often had dodgy feet so we just used to adjust our speed to whoever was at their slowest on the day.

Height loss caused by serious spine deterioration and two compression fractures, gness. I'm bent now.

Barsel, agree about Harry. His face says it all.

The joys of getting older. You must miss your other half so much.
That sounds painful?
Question Author
Very Gness especially as all my joints are arthritic and I can't tolerate strong painkillers. But I cope. I couldn't though without OH.

I'm now off to watch him cook dinner, but I will do the steak because he can't get it right.
Good you have him to look out for you. For folk alone it must be so difficult.

Very true x

gness," If I shrink Dave will be able to lean his elbow on my head".
I knew an RAF Officer who was 6' 7" and his wife was 5' 1" and that is exactly how they walked together, his elbow on her head.
I find it very sweet when I see older(elderly) couples holding hands. I almost envy them.
The ex Mr Pasta didn't hold hands. There was the time we went up to Plymouth Hoe to see an air display...a very uncomfortable situation for someone who hates heights or open spaces. I took his hand...he shook me away. I went back home...oh well.
If Dave does that, Vulcan I’ll get a step ladder and clip his ear. :-)
gness, She preferred that, once told me that if they held hands it looked as if she was out with her father. :o)
Won’t tell Dave that, Vulcan. I’ll just hold his hand and smile. :-)
I think holding hands and touching / kissing to any degree depend on the couple, some are comfortable, others less so.

I imagine unselfconcious physical contact comes more easily to Meaghan as an American, than to Harry, product of a sniffling upper class family, and without anything approaching spontaneous displays of affection since the death of his mother.
