As far as I am aware, we have just one Romanian woman in our small town and guess what....she sells the Big Issue.
Yesterday I was browsing in a shop when she came in and began chatting to the shop owner. They were both moaning at the cost of the fees at the private school their kids go to. It turns out she has four kids at the said school.
I think I followed the wrong career path!

I find it hard to believe that the founding principles are being adhered to if someone with four kids at a private school is selling it.
She may just have been chatting as a distraction whilst other things were going on.

Totally agree Douglas. This happened to my elderly Mum a few years ago, two Romanian Big issue sellers asked her about the sizing of English clothes and being the helpful person she was, tried the skirt up against herself to show the length etc and put her bag on the floor for a couple of seconds right at her feet. When she left the shop she found her pension she had just withdrawn from the post office opposite had been taken in her pension wallet. It was all captured on CCTV but they never sold Big Issues in our town again and the police said they didn't get them - it happens all the time apparently.

Murray, she wasn't talking big - it was obvious the two women knew each other through their kids being at the same school.....and being a nosey git I casually quizzed the shop owner after the Romanian woman had left.
I too understood that the Big Issue could only be sold by the homeless.
Oz, in answer to your question - international supermodel, philanthropist and all round good egg
