Our Boiler Has Run Out Of Oil, Will It Need Bleeding When We Refill The Oil Tank?

i think it will,i'm on my 2nd worcester boiler and they both need to be bled. just like an oil/diesel engine.

You may be lucky, Ratts. Sometimes they'll just fire up as usual. If it eventually goes to lockout without firing, then bleeding necessary.

There is a bleed valve (possibly complete with nozzle for a length of tube) on the oil pump.

The thing to avoid, is to tamper with two other controls on the pump. One is where a gauge can be attached to measure pump pressure. The important one to leave alone is the pressure regulator. If you adjust that, the whole burning process is affected.... requiring re-setting to the right level.

Thanks guys, we had the fuel delivered today, we mentioned about the bleeding to the driver and he came in and fixed it for us, I offered him a tenner for his trouble and he refused it!! Nice chap, good service.
