Number of books in the bible

I know that there are disputes about the numbers, but years ago a priest told me something like:-

39 books in the Old Testament
3 x 9 = 27 Books in the New Testament
2 x 7 = 14 Books in the Apocrypha.

But what are the intial words and numbers that introduce 39?

Old = 3
Testament = 9
