Moved to another house a few years ago and it's got a grape vine outside in the garden, the grapes are now turning into a dark purple from green, I have about 35 bunches but don't know what they are, my question is are all grapes edible, my grandson keeps wanting to pick them.

Yes, I think they are. I had a grape vine, lots of lovely bunches of quite small grapes. They were very sweet, but had lots of pips! Quite fiddly to eat them. Depends on how old your grandson is - could he manage pips. I ended up making wine - my grandson, then aged 10 had great fun mashing them up. The wine was drinkable (but only because we made it ourselves).
As with other fruits there are grape varieties which are not very palatable but tasting them will not do you any harm. If you like them, eat them, if not then use them for winemaking or compost. Seeded varieties may produce seeds in various sizes from tiny to noticeable but the easiest way is just to swallow them - some people even crunch them. Some grape varieties have skin that requires a bit of chewing in order for it to go down easily.

Thanks to both of you, the make your own wine sounds good, will give it a go if I can find a easy recipe.
Hi jrtv I have the same in my garden and this year it has more bunches than I've ever seen. Just a warning there seems to be a day when they are at their best and the birds have them all in one go!
