In your opinions when is it best to exercise . morning or evening. (I work 9-30 to 6 most weeks) ?

Also my diet is rubbish....Im going to cut out all fizzy drink etc...but what do you guys reckon is the best grub to eat...pasta etc?? (obv not dripping in creamy sauce though!!)

I would say the morning, they say 4pm is the the best, but you are work, apparentely drinking strong coffee about a hour before you exercise makes you burn more calories, never tried it myself..
If you want to lose it quickly do both.

Coffee does quicken your metabolic rate as does Chillis, pepper and a few other things.

Avoid carbs later in the day because it's slow release energy. No snacking and no drinks apart from water and the odd cup of coffee/tea.
My personal view is that it doesn't matter when you exercise as long as you exercise. I go to the gym at completely random times, cut down on booze, cut out most starch and started drinking loads of water. We eat loads of fruit and veg anyway so the diet was never too bad. I started Bank Holiday Monday and have lost about 8 pounds so far. Only problem is, I bought two new pairs of jeans on 7 August. Both of them are in danger of heading south now!
Bloody 'ell. Barmaid has cut down on the booze! So she really is in love, then ;-)

The best time to exercise, JD, is probably whenever you can. If possible, walk or cycle to work. Always take the stairs and not the lift. Try to ensure that you walk at least 5 miles every day. (It's not hard if you don't pick up the car keys whenever you need to go shopping).

Pasta is good for filling you up without piling the pounds on. Potatoes are fine as long as you avoid cooking them in fat. (Jacket potatoes can form the basis of many a good meal). If you fancy a snack, have a banana. (They're a great source of slow-release energy and they fill you up quite quickly without significantly adding to your waistline).

Chris
re your diet.. low fat.
I would agree that whenever you can is the best time to exercise, especially if you don't exercise at all at the moment!
I'm trying to cut down and am avoiding bread and pasta at breakfast and lunch as although I've heard the thing about not eating carbs after 6oclock, I find it easier not to eat loads of pasta and bread during the day then maybe have them at dinner when have to agree with what other people are having! Is working OK so far but not exercising yet really!
Get yourself a decent pedometer when walking...
Exercise when it is convenient for you.
Try not to eat in a strange fashion that you won't keep up when you reach some target weight. If it seems a chore during the weight lose period you'll be eager to give it up and then be back where you started 12 months later. Eat & drink less higher calorie stuff, eat more lower calorie stuff, but don't go extreme. Plan the odd or regular "treat" or you'll detest the whole activity.

Thanks for the replies guys and gals

I do walk to work..its literally 5 mins away....i may devise a route though that is out of the way and takes me longer..and being on the 1st floor means the lift never gets a look in - it doesnt really help Im sitting on my behind all day really...

Didnt think of jacket potatos..I do like em....but again normally dripping in butter etc...!

Bananas - Yep.

God if i stick to this I'll be very happy, and in some sort of shape for Crimbo
I've been finding that if I fancy a snack and want something sweet I'll have grapes and if am in the mood for crisps will have some cucumber sliced up with bit of salt and pepper on; these usually help satisfy my cravings! Also though, am currently avoiding temptation as there are no chocolate bars or biscuits (my biggest downfall!) in the house!
Go for an half hour (or more) rapid walk each evening. Nowt on the box anyway. Get to know your locale. (No not local.)
or dont lose the weight and you could be father christmas
lol Buenchico. Nothing to do with being in love - just conscious I ought to take more care of myself!! (Although I would like to drop a dress size for the wedding dress!!!)

Sorry JackDanielsU
