I've not seen the Waitrose ad but Thin Lizzy sang 'Whisky in The Jar' which sounds like it could be what you mean.

It's actually an old Irish Folk song and as Sammy Snake points out it was covered by Thin Lizzy amongst many others.

The extract that Waitrose uses is, indeed, the Thin Lizzy version. And it's Whiskey in the Jar - it's about Irish whiskey.
