Just unbelievable that the mother did this to her own kid! and she was drugged and tied up too! Why is it people like this cant be sterilized! They dont deserve children! So many familes could love Shannon better and care for her better. I hope she is getting over her ordeal and is happier now!

I think that is the key thing, there ARE thousands more like them.
A couple of questions down R1Geezer is saying how all the people who work for social services are useless and the doctors dont know what they are doing.
Easy for him to shout his mouth off AFTER the event, but people who work for social services must see hundreds of children every day who are in vulnerable situations, but they cannot take them ALL away from their parents.
People like R1Geezer think it is easy but I bet if many of us went into some homes to see how people lived we would be horrified and demand the children be removed straight away.
Unfortunately children dont have a label on their head saying "I am going to be killed by my parents in a couple of weeks" and it is very hard to make the correct decision.
(I have to say in the case of Baby P it does seem that there was a failing, but it does not make all people who work in social services stupid. Maybe R1Geezer should spend a few days with social services visiting some homes to see if he thinks it is so easy).

Have you been to Florida? Some of the kids there, sort of 10 or 12 year olds, can't even walk round the theme parks, because they are so overweight. They have giant sized buggys for them. It's appalling.
And the parents take them for lunch, and put plates in front of them with stacks of burgers, chips, cheesecake, milkshakes.
I just thought ... you guys are killing your kids !!!
And in the Magic Kingdom, you can't buy alcohol, because it's not good for you !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

With regards to America.. and the Burger Lifestyle.. I do think we have followed their footsteps too closely... we need to look to Europe and the Italian/Spanish diets for a healthier life.

Boo - it is downright cruel to remove children erroneously from their families, as has happened countless times.
Foster carers and adoptive parents have also been guilty of neglect, cruelty and perversions don't forget.
Social services CANNOT remove children - only the courts can do that, and occasionally police officers.
Social Services can't go in to a home or examine a child with the invitation and consent of the parent, unless their is a court order in place.

I didn't say taking children willy nilly Ethel. I'm asking why, if children are that vulnerable, they can't remove them? I don't care if it's one child or thousands- if they in danger- remove them.
As for the rules and regulations of the SS, I obviously don't know them, but it appears to me that that they need to be overhauled so that they do have more power than they have- otherwise I frankly don't see the need for them. If all their powers extend to is saying Child A has a bruise here and there and limbs broken and they are unable to act upon it themselves, then they (through on fault of their own I hasten to add) aren't worth the wage they're recieving.

Listen VHG, I'd love to be a social worker, I'd have gone round and taken the kid away, b0llux to my boss or any other liberal do gooding tw&t, I don't care if I get fired to save a life. I stand by what I said, social services are staffed by useless ideologists who are more worried about getting a bad appraisal than doing their jobs. 60 visits child dead, not the first time won't be the last untill this left wing experiment is finally over. trouble is they won't take people like me on in this sort of job because they'd be frightened I'd actually do it instead of handwringing and spouting lefty sound bites, VHG?
