How safe is it to plant a weeping birch near to a garden wall and a pavement. Is it likely to damage underground structures

Birch trees generally have a very shallow root system even to spreading along the surface, creating ankle traps. They are best planted in the middle of a very large field that has no walls or pavement nearby.I think they are lovely trees but in the wrong place they can be a nuisance.

A weeping birch will grow very wide & if next to a pavement you'd be forever having to prune and spoil the lovely shape of it.
