Hi,

I have the following package from tiscali... Tiscali Broadband 1MB USB L.....

The package is about 2yrs old and i pay 14.99 a month. My package is " Tiscali up to 1Mb Unlimited"

I don't fully understand the whole Mb / download thing. I think i could probably get a better deal.

Is the Sky package any good??

Cheers for any advice

Brendan

Shop around Brendan,

I have 2mb for 17 but that's with a package of phone, TV etc with Virgin media.

Thank you Rtaxron,

Is the 2Mb the speed of the service?

I do intend to shop around but I'm not really sure waht all the minor details (and some of the major ones) are.

Cheers

Brendan
If you're happy with Tiscali then stick with them.

But I get "up to 8Mb" with them for 14.99 a month...

Phone them and see if you can change to a newer package.

If you're already with Sky or Vigin Media for TV or phone, then look into their services for broadband too, as it could work out cheaper combined.

And yes, 2Mb, 4 Mb, etc. is the speed of the service. Also note that your service is unlimited. This means you can use the internet as much as you want without paying more. Many other ISPs like BT put caps on the service -- download up to 5GB a month, and after that they charge for every extra GB used, etc. Personally I'd always go unlimited, if you use it a lot.
hi irishlad i`ve just answered a similar question on the technology section

in shortness dont sign up a new contract , infact get out of tiscali
if you upgrade you will have nothing but problems, there sys cant handle the high speeds and you will be stuck in a new 12 months contract (like i did and many many others)
go on there homepage and then the forums then the broadband help support and see everyones problems there have , there all the same
disconnections slowness etc etc etc

the call center is a waste of time calling india up at 60p per min and on for at least 30 mins and there english is as bad as it comes and reading from a script

if i was you which i am going to do when my contract is up is getting away from tiscali

try a propper isp eg "be" there suppose to be top dog

as i said i`ve made a posting under technology to have a read

good luck
BT offered 5.25pm broadband.....I use it. And you can see how much time I spend here! Dont know about mb etc but for me its instant, with wifi on the box.
Hi
I`ve been with Tiscali for many years since before when they took over Lineone.
Upgrade to their up-to 8 Mb for 14.99 as I did earlier this year you get FREE line rental so no 10.50 BT charge FREE w/end 01 + 02 calls and FREE international calls to Australia Canada Europe etc in my area I get an average of 4.8 Mb which is fine considering distance from exchange, I normally leave my pc on 24/7 and I cannot remember the last time it was disconnected from the internet.
Every ISP has good and bad experiences I can only give my personal and that of many friends and relatives who use Tiscali.
Hope this helps
I agree with kaw69, I've been with Tiscali for over 3 years now,and have upgraded to get the free line rental recently, I've never had a problem at all, I get up to 8mb broadband and all my landline calls and some international ones free and all for 19.99 a month, again I can only report my experience, but it's been good so far..........
as you know i`m on tiscali and well guess what yip lost connection

asked how long to get back on they said upto 28 days , this company is a complete utter joke

sooner the contract is up the better

complete load of rubbish
