How do I put an emoticon alongside my message on Windows Live Messenger. (Share a personal message with your contacts) several of my contacts have smilies or palm trees etc but I only seem to be able to get writing.

type in the code for the emoticon eg:

:P = smile with tongue out
if you hover over the emoticon it tells you which characters make up that pic

Just click on the emoticons and display will open up. double click the one you want and it will appear alongside your message then press send
