It's because you seldom have coffee, you have not built up a tolerance to caffiene.
In college I regularly drank strong coffee; 10 tablespoons coffee grounds in a 10 cup coffee maker...I like to call it mud. And I drank it often.
At home I started getting awful headaches when I didn't have coffee so I cut down drasticly...withdrawing from the addiction.
I never drink coffee after noon, if I do, I'm up half the night.
And if I drink more than 2 cups of coffee I'm a Mexican jumping bean!
I make sure I have my last cup of coffee by 5pm or else, like you, I've had for the night.
Talk about toss and turn!
