old school ipod

Ive just bought a really old school ipod off ebay, the problem is my computer wont detect it through the firewire. It does however detecct my friends more recent model. Can anyone advise please?

well, both of those were mac-only. try formatting the iPod to fat32, either on windows if you can get it to recognise it at all with some software, or on a mac.
