The thing is,sadly, you might put a bit more on yet.I stopped 2 years ago im 5.2 always been under 9 st.but have put nearly 2 st.on.Its your metabolism that slows down when you stop smoking. But be positive it does level out again..and even tho iHATE exercising i just increase tha distance i walk every day to help with this. But you have stopped smoking !!!! well done dont be tempted to go back just to lose the weight..eventually it will go ..good luck

well done for quitting that horrid ,cancer laden, disease giving, foul, smelly, peasanty, unsocialable, chavvy, unfeminine, disgusting habit.

Even if you never lose the weight you have gained you will still be healthier than your slimmer smoking counterparts.

However, four months since quitting? You shouldn't really be concentration on it much, but I have never smoked so I don't really understand what the fuss is about.

Just replace one meal with salad (No bread, no meat, no fatty dressing) a day for one month. Simple. 10-14 lbs off. Carry on as normal with booze, choccy or whatever.

AND STAY OFF THE FAGS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I agree with scruffscat, WALK, WALK, WALK increasing the distance each time... I could not walk 250 metres to the shops and now I can walk at least 5 miles without stopping. If you happen to get any leg pains then just walk through the pain and it will go. Good luck with the weight loss and well done for giving up the demon weed.
Treat yourself to a pedometer and aim to get in at least 10,000 paces every day. You can buy them quite quite cheaply from sport shops and over the internet. Simply wearing one and checking how many paces you have done will help act as a motivator. Also, if you're having problems dieting, cut down your portion size and start serving your meals on smaller size plates. Psychologically this won't make you feel so deprived as cutting things out completely, but in time it may help to change your eating habits.
