Hi, Im conducting a report and was wondering whether anyone would be more inclined to purchase a book that was being produced locally and in accordance with a charity?

Thanks

Sorry, I buy books based solely on the content. Do you mean that the book would be sold to benefit a charity?

I would still have to want the book in order to buy it.

Local production would not affect my decision either

Thank you woofgang, I appreciate your comments and honesty.

(If the book received any royalties they would be given to a local charity)

Had you thought about tying it in to tourism? I would think that there would be interest in buying something locally produced if it was relevant to the area.
Question Author

Initially I had thought of that, but have decided to produce a book with relating to my college, through my creative writing class. I intend to put all sorts of peices in it, poems, short stories etc.

I had to produce and questionnaire and this site is invaluable for info and opinions.

I appreciate your help!

If there's a book in a book-shop (or on a station book stall) with a sign saying 'Local author - In Aid of XYZ Children's Hospice', I'd be more likely to pick it up and examine it than other books which might be alongside it.

Whether or not I'd buy it, however, would still depend upon the content (and the price).

(PS: I'll buy yours if you'll buy one of mine!)
creative writing is always a tough sell, charity or not, unless you're JK Rowling (and it wasn't easy for her, either). You might do better to persuade people it's something they need, maybe local information as woofgang suggested; that might also help persuade local shops to stock it.
