Would someone care to add up the numbers & subtract it from the world's population?
does this show what people say they are or does it refer only to people who actually practice the religion on a regular basis?
Question Author
Khandro,
World population is 7.7Billion.
16% of the world's population is not affiliated with a religion, while 84% are affiliated.
Should anyone care, as long as they behave themselves ?
Possibly reflects family size.
Thanks Gromit, that's an interesting stat.
Also interesting is that there only an estimated 14 million Jews in the entire world (& Islam wants to wipe them all out!) & it looks like half of them are non-practising
Doesn't radical Islam want to wipe out anyone who doesn't adhere to their faith?
davebro
so it would seem
I'd like to know much more about the origins of the data...who asked whom where and when.
"16% of the world's population is not affiliated with a religion, while 84% are affiliated."

Gromit.. surely that makes the 16% the odd ones out. Maybe we (I say we because I am not affiliated) are the odd ones out.. Well we are the odd ones out.
//Maybe we ............. are the odd ones out.//

What can I say?
Question Author
Wolfgang,
Most countries collect this data from a census or official forms. I am not saying they used wikipedia, but even that method lets us find the figures.

https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Religion_in_Turkey

Turkey has a population of 82 million, and 0.2% are Christian. They can work out the figures for the present day, and go through archives and population growth data to work out past numbers. And they would have to do that for all the 195 world countries.

"What can I say?"

Well Khandro I'd say cya in hell but obviously you're going to heaven so all I can say is send me a postcard with a nice scent in it so I can sniff it and hopefully it may take me away from hell for a split percentage of a millisecond.
I hope they have lettuce in hell.
Bound to
The data come from The World Religion Dataset.
//obviously you're going to heaven so all I can say is send me a postcard with a nice scent in it//

I don't know what the postal service will be like, but if there are laptops I'll send a post which would be the first one to AB from up there.
"I don't know what the postal service will be like"

Obviously it will be heavenly.
I don't think that they have heaven to earth fibre yet.
I'm not sure what anyone expects anyone to say. If they're the figures, they're the figures.
