isley brothers this old heart of mine sang by rod stewart isn't bad but I still prefer the original .
How about looking at this from the other direction? I much prefer Marvin Gaye's original version of Wherever I Lay My Hat to Paul Young's version! Released in 1962 it was a B side of Too Busy Thinking 'Bout My Baby but I always preferred it to the A side.

I don't dislike it, but Lennon's vocal brings out the cynicism of the lyrics.

I may like it better if I didn’t watch the video and just listened to the song.
Bigbad, Michael McDonald also did a stonking version of Stevie Wonder's I Believe (When I Fall In Love It Will Be Forever).

Yes Mozz71. Michael McDonald did 2 Motown covers albums. My Other favourite is this:



Although not a Motown original, the biggest hit was by Diana Ross and Marvin Gaye.

I liked that, The Builder.
