... potentially.

Just been outside to keep and eye on the dogs outing, came back in to the quite strong smell of gas.
Shouted to the other room "Gas Leak, don't switch anything on or off"
The first things that happen were the TV going off and the hall lights being switched on!

On investigating it appears Mrs B had put a used pan lid on top of the hob when she was sorting stuff out and it had hit a gas tap and knocked it very slightly open. It had obviously been building up slowly for a while and was only spotted because I'd been outside in clean air for 5 minutes or so and noticed it as soon as I came in.
Lucky or what?

as long as you're still living, all is good! Next time try shouting "Somebody light a match!" - they'll all come rushing with a torch...

Very lucky! I have absolutely no sense of smell and a few years ago I looked after a friends house when they were on holiday. I cleaned their gas hob on last day and left. Unbeknown to me I'd knocked gas on but couldn't smell it. Three days later they come home. She opens door first and he's behind with a cigarette in mouth unlit. He steps in and is just about to light it when she screams at him tommo
That posted too soon! She screams at him to not light it as she's smelt the gas!! I had a lot of apologising to do
