Not seen the story but phone use seems less dangerous than tends to be said. As to whether a drunk should be banned, it depends on what they were doing.

Emeritus, thank you, that's the one.
If so, no. It is far too big a reaction to an idiot causing a scene. He is already facing possible gaol and hopefully has realised what an immature *** he's been.
twit

(I must have "accidentally" pressed the 'a' key.)
eejits like this should be banned for life but I know what'll happen in the end, they'll ban sherbet on planes and we'll all get punished as usual for the activities of a few morons. In my opinion committing any arrestable offence on a plane should ground the person for life, their records should be adjusted so that any their passport prohibits flight, end of.

Would your answer be the same if this clown caused sever trouble on the plane OG, the Captain came out of the Cockpit to deal with this clown, WHAT IF this idiot would have over powered the captain & got into the Cockpit?
I couldn't see anything about a phone in the "article" - if that's what you can call the tripe that the Sun writes. I thought he had got hold of the intercom. The guy is an idiot, and should go on a list of such idiots so airlines can decide whether to accommodate him or not.
yes, drunken idiot but I am a bit surprised that the airline’s procedures were such that the flight captain needed to become involved at a time when he should have been landing the plane.
Some people react badly to drink. In this chaps case, he is obviously one of those who becomes very aggressive and nasty. Others just become friendly and fall asleep ( me for example ! )

Not sure about the banned for life business though...difficult thing to impose.

I suppose we must just have to rely on the ability of the airline staff to spot people like him and weed them out in time.

Considering the huge number of people that fly every year, its not often you hear of this sort of thing.

The plane would have been in safe hands with the Co Pilot Woof, but this sort of problem happens too often.
I have just had another look at the link, and it would seem to me that Worrall is a bit of a arrogant knobhead....actually a large knobhead !

So I hope he gets sent down.
No I don't think he should be banned for life but I do think he should be sent to jail - as any drunken yob who disrupts air travel should be.

Just a thought, It may never happen "I hope not" but WHAT IF a plane was brought down by some Izzed up idiot, I wonder what the reaction of the public would be?
No he shouldn't be banned for life - he has behaved in a stupid drunken fashion, and has acknowledged it, and apologised.

It simply adds to the argument that airports should stop selling alcohol.

Profit comes before safety Andy.

From the Link
///“I didn’t pick the phone up myself it was knocked off but I did insinuate that we should order some drinks over the phone.
“I know if I would have put the phone back the matter would have been forgotten. I’d just like to apologise."///
I don't think airports should stop selling alcohol. I see no justification in punishing the majority for the actions of the very few. I do, however, think it might be an idea to restrict the purchase of drinks to, say, two per passenger. Boarding cards with two tear-off sections could be issued and presented when buying drinks. No ‘tag’, no drink.
Nothing to do with taking a phone off him. He grabbed the crew intercom and used it to demand more drinks. He had been a trouble maker the entire flight constantly asking for more drink and 'flirting' with the stewardess instead of listening to the safety announcements.
I would imagine he was already drunk when he got on the plane as the crew were restricting drinks to him.No need to change the rules on drinking at airports and on planes, just enforce the rules we already have. Anyone who is drunk is not allowed to board the flight and loses the cost of the ticket, that is the rule, it was just not followed.
Eddie...well said ! A simple application of common sense here would have avoided this situation.
