Went to the co-op for bread this morning and saw Hot Cross Buns for sale. Why can't they wait till nearer Easter?

I think that for many of us, particularly as we get older,we are seeing traditional events that mark the passing of seasons-and the year...rushing past us. To see symbols of a springtime or winter event appearing so early makes us feel as if time is flying past, and also takes away their meaning. I see nothing wrong in expecting certain things at certain...

We've also been selling mini eggs and creme eggs too since Boxing day.

You aren't obliged to buy 'em ya know ;-)
Just business, if people will buy them, they'll sell them. I won't be buying them any time soon, though!
I will buy mini eggs though :-)
Got my first creme egg today. Yum.
Things like that don't bother me. I don't even care that they start selling Christmas cards in September !!
Me neither Chaps, I don't get why people seem so outraged, as I said you aren't obliged to buy 'em just because they're there.
There are far worse things to get het up about imo !
Never understood why someone who loves mince pies are seen odd if they eat then in summer or eat hot cross buns at Christmas - tis only food.
quinie knows that one isn't obliged to buy them and she knows there are more things to get to het up about...........

She is not getting" het up" about anything, she is stating a fact and asking for comments.
Who are you sqad, her Dad ??? I'm sure she can answer for herself !!
Hot cross buns taste nice, whatever the time of year.
chapta....she can indeed, but so can i make a comment.
I like a mug of steaming black peas on a spring evening - but then I am an odd ball.
"Why can`t they wait till nearer Easter"? Because that`s business and they want your money. Same with all sectors - clothing, garden goods, holidays etc. The food industry is no different.
And so can I sqad - what's the difference ??
I couldn't care less when they sell them, what difference does it make to anyone? Hot cross buns are yummy at any time of year :)
My Co-op had Minced Pies on the shelves in August, with a sell-by date of late October, so nothing surprises me anymore !
Especially smothered in butter (yum) !
^ That was to Daffy's post ....
Sainsbury's had Hot X Buns on sale in December. Don't know why they are not available all year round; just remove the X then there are no seasonal implications.
