How come its hardly being reported that a man was shot by police at Canary Wharf on Thursday 7th July, just after the bombings?

Possibly because it didn't happen?
Question Author
A friend witnessed it any I also work alongside national newspaper reps, so it did.
I heard about this from people who work there on Thursday - some were saying one person, some were saying 2.  I was wondering why it wasn't being reported until I read Metro on Friday (not necessarily the most reliable source of info I know!) and they reported that it was all rumours and people calling police to find out what it was all about it was hampering their operations.  As far I know it didn't happen.
I've no idea whether this particular incident did or did not happen. However, not everything that happens is reported, for many different reasons. Just think of kidnapping cases, it is often not reported until the hostage has been returned. There were also incidents in London involving the IRA in the 70's/80's which were not reported in the media.

In this particular case it may have nothing to do with the bombings (probably hasn't in fact or it would have been reported) and whilst it may have made the news on any other day, not on this particular one!
Do we have the foundation for a conspiracy theory ?

Is there not someone on Answerbank, or someone who knows someone, who works at Canary Wharf, who can clarify the sitiuation?

I work in CW and we got told via one of the security guards that someone was shot at around 12/12.30 on the estate. Still haven't heard anymore about it though.

This is a classic 'a friend of a friend' story. I bet there is no evidence that it happened.

...but lots of people know someone who witnessed it so maybe there is truth in the story, is it not much of a coincidence that this is being reported by a lot of people, who made up the same story on the same day?

A good point admarlow. Also, on the day before the bombings, a man of Arabic origin dropped his wallet on the tube. A friend of mine gave it back to him, and he said ,'You might want to stay at home tomorrow...'

The above is totally untrue, however, it is virtually word for word identical to a story that went global about a day after 9/11, along with several slight variations. The fact that a load of people are repeating the same story but not one person is saying 'I saw it' suggests the CW story is equally an urban myth.

If this isn't an urban myth I'll superglue myself to a toilet seat!
Question Author
will you provide proof? ha ha ha
I know someone who saw it happen and I've just found this from a search to see if anyone else knew about it!
Question Author
what did they see???????
Not the superglue incident....  A man getting shot by police at Canary Wharf on 7th July.
Question Author
what exactly did you see?, why do you think it wasn't reported?

I've said what she saw (it wasn't me, which I've also said).  It was mentioned at a press conference later in the day on 7th, but the police denied knowledge at that time.  As a serious incident, if it were wholly unrelated, you might expect to see a column inch somewhere in the centre of the major papers...?

I saw it, it did happen for sure.

A man was shot down by what looked like police as he ran towards Canary Wharf.

As far as I could see he wasn't killed out right because he was still moving on the floor, he was taken away immediately by the officers in an unmarked vehicle.

It all happened so quickly, I'm not suprised very few people didn't witness it.

urban myth developing nicely.
Question Author
how is it an urdan myth?, Jerimiah saw it. If you cant believe everything you read in the paper, why can't you believe something because its NOT in the papers???
