Do they still only get emptied at the designated times do you know? I posted some Christmas cards at 11am today and the post was level with the opening in the box but not quite spilling out. With the next collection not until tomorrow, so hours more for peeps to keep stuffing stuff in, plus it's p'ing it down, I don't hold out much hope for my cards staying in pristine condition. So question is, do the PO do extra collections as they must be aware of the problem?

I'm not sure about extra collections but I had a Royal Mail delivery today.
They certainly do - not sure about today as it's not the last Sunday before Christmas yet, but ours are emptied about 4 times a day during the run up to 25 Dec.
(One reason for posting early, too - ours were all away last week!)

Thanks ladies. I hope they're doing extras around here then. It's poured with rain since I posted them, I was thinking about going back and taking them out again:-(
Much to my surprise, this says otherwise - perhaps the RM aren't taking on all those extra posties this year http://www.royalmail.com/sites/default/files/Delivery-and-Collection-Arrangements-Christmas-2012.pdf

Thanks boxy, but that is ridiculous. They'll have to, surely, people will start complaining.
As with so many places - cost saving?
If you phone your local delivery office and tell them, they might come and do an extra collection.
You can also contact them online.

Thank you, that's a good idea from one Lady to another:-)
Happy to help :-))

(If it does.....I only said 'might' )
:-))
A few years back I noticed the post box about 50 yards up the road was full to the top. I went to local sorting office to report this, the reply shocked me, "We know, but we don't know where the key is" I couldn't understand why they didn't seal the box while they investigated instead of ignoring it. I have never used that box since, I prefer to drive to post office to be on the safe side.

They probably could have pulled the overflow out without a key carandog. Yesterday I could have taken a couple of carrier bags full I reckon.
You're right, the least they could have done was sealed it.
