son just phoned and told me he was looking at house prices,the one i sold 10 years ago for £82,000.went on sale 3 years ago for £250,000,i wish i had hung in there,i must try and get this house valued again.

It may have gone on sale for £250,000......but i doubt whether they would get £180,000 for it now.......so don't feel so bad.

thats why i'm wondering about this one ,not that i am thinking of selling,just interested.
unless you are moving out of the housing market altogether or moving to a vastly smaller house or cheaper area, the value of your house really means nothing. If yours goes up in value then pretty much anything you want to buy has done the same. As long as mine is worth more than I owe on it then I'm happy. At the moment it's all academic anyway, your home only has a value if someone wants to buy it!!
The price of a house is what someone is willing to pay for it. And if you have to buy another one you are in the same market. I am trying to sell mine and up to now no-one is interested. Had a couple of viewings but that is all - apart from that a deafening silence.
