This is from someone who has never used cannabis.
Considering that 50% of smokers will die from smoking related health problems and considering the problems alcohol cause, why is Cannabis illigal when it doesn't seem to do much damage at all?

A 100er coming up.
Cannabis is bad for you, it is smoking, it causes mental problems it is a gateway drug.
Why can't we practice and encourage sobrierty?
What's so wrong with that?
I don't smoke now, and I've never tried cannabis but I've read that cannabis helps people with arthritis etc. If people are in pain then I can understand them using something that works to ease the pain.

Everton my point is if smoking (tabacco) is legal why not cannabis.
Why is it deemed so much worse than tabacco?
If Sir Francis Drake came home smoking doobie, then maybe we would be, but he didn't.
We should be seeking to rid our bodies of pollutants not add to them.
Who would you trust to sell it?
Alcohol has a whole list of prohibitions of sale, and yet kids can get it easily, do you think legalising it will make that harder?
I don't.
My opinion ? Mainly because there is loads of money being laundered, none of which the government gets.
Legalise it, I say - or at least de-classify it again and de-criminalise possession of small amounts for personal use.

I am not suggesting for one minute it is legalised. i am merely asking why it is banned when other dugs that would seem to do more harm aren't?
Home-made alcohol is illegal. Why? My guess is for the same reason AP mentioned about cannabis.

It's a fair question G.P, if we grew tea then perhaps we would never have had such a big drinking culture in the first place.
Home made alcohol is not illegal, only distilled alcohol manufacture (eg. "moonshine").
We are talking about grog, right AP?

If you're really making your own gin, Pinkilady, I hope that you've got a licence!

Section 12 of the Alcoholic Liquor Duties Act 1979 states:
"No person shall manufacture spirits, whether by distillation of a fermented liquor or by any other process, unless he holds an excise licence for that purpose under this section (referred to in this Act as a “distiller’s licence”)".

When he was in his teens my brother built something in the back garden. It was a while before our parents discovered that it was a Still.

Cannabis - it a useful drug for some people who suffer from chronic illnesses, but it can have disastrous effects with a person who has an underlying psychiatric problem. Maybe it should be legalised - let people make their own choices and the government can collect taxes on it.

Alcohol has destroyed many people and their families and yet it is still legal.

Cigarettes are toxic - my mother died at 58 due to her smoking. And yet many youngsters take up smoking each year.

There are many arguments for and against legalising cannabis - some of the points are valid and logical. We will have to see what the future holds.
Cannabis is a terrible drug. It seems to be only deemed safe by those who smoke it. If it is smoked with tobacco from "tailor made" cigarettes as opposed to roll-ups then you are inhalling all the poisons from the tobacco without a filter.

Cannabis is addictive, maybe not physically but psychologically. Cannabis brings on mental illness, paranoia, and is am introduction to harder drugs. How many of the can't work/won't work are addicted to psychologically?

I could go on for hours...
